Roulette strategy

Monday, December 2, 2019

As we described before (on the system page) there is no (mathematically proved) system that can "beat the casino". The game of roulette is a game of chance, and mathematics won't help you in this situation. Don't believe people who state that they can break the law of probability using some system "tested over 10 years".

All we can do is to calculate the probability for every bet, which doesn't even reach 50/50 because of the zeros. Refer to roulette odds if you want to know what determines the house edge.

The only system which allows to make money playing roulette was invented in 19th century by casino owners. It's quite simple - if you want to make money in the long run - start your own casino.

So, don't take roulette systems seriously. Systems are for the blackjack and video poker, where intelligent gambler can get a slight edge over casino. But roulette is a game of chance, play for fun.

So, if we deny any system, what do we suggest for a roulette strategy?

In the games of chance your chance to win depends on your luck and common sense. Intelligent gambler always tries to chose rules that give him the better chance.

The best strategy in the game of roulette is to know the aspects of a game that can give your better odds, and aspects that increase the casino edge. So, the first thing we can do is to play in casinos that offer better rules.

Play European roulette.

As described on the odds page, the European roulette gives casino 2.63% house edge unlike the American rules which take 5.26%. That is why the game of roulette is not so popular in the American casinos. On the contrary, this game is still a symbol of the Casino for many gamblers in the Europe.

Of course, online casinos have made single zero European roulette widely available - anybody can spin the wheel with the same great odds that Europeans have always enjoyed.

Avoid the Five numbers bet

If you don't follow the previous advice, and adhere to American rules, don't bet on five bet where casino has 7.89% edge.

"En Prison" and "Surrender" rules

Look for "En Prison" and "Surrender ("La Partage") rules which reduce the house edge to 2.63% (American) and 1.35% (European) when you bet even chances.

Money management

We know the roulette rules that offer the best odds for the player. The next decision is how much to bet.

It is not a secret that many players risks more than they can afford to loose when they put on the roulette table their money - a really good way to go completely broke. But following some simple rules can help you to increase your chances to win:

  • Even before you sit down at the baccarat table decide how much you are going to loose.
  • Always quit when you have won as much as you set out to win.
  • Divide up your money and control how much you bet at each round.
  • One of the best ways to manage your money during the play is to pocket a certain percentage of your winnings each time you win or to pocket it all.

This simple strategy gives you chance to enjoy the thrill of gambling for a longer period of time without going broke.

And one more advice: Never underestimate luck, it is the biggest factor when you play any game of chance - if you leave the table having more dollars in your pocket than you started (even if it is only $1) you win!

The sad thing about any gambling strategy is the discipline. Remember, if you do not follow your chosen strategy, you do not have strategy at all!

So, play European Roulette, stick to the money management and let the luck be on you side!
