The European and French tables have a mechanism to place so-called Announces (call bets). This bets are announced to the dealer, who places the bets on the corresponding fields.
As described in the European roulette wheel diagram, the numbers are allocated in three standard arcs:
- The "Voisins du Zero" arc
- The "Tier du Cylindre" arc
- The "Orphans" and "Orphelins" arc
In some casinos in the layout there is printed wheel draft in the form of a ellipse ("racetrack") divided in arcs. It makes much easier the procedure of placing standard bet combinations.

1. Voisins or Zero Neighbor or series 0/2/3
The player who wishes to set this combination, bets on all numbers of the "Voisins" arc: (22, 18, 29, 7, 28, 12, 35, 3, 26, 0, 32, 15, 19, 4, 21, 2, 25).
He gives the dealer the nine bet units. Dealer places the chips on the printed layout of the arcs (as above).
If there is no printed wheel layout in the shape of ellipse, chips are placed as follows: one split ("cheval") bet on every of the numbers 4/7, 12/15, 18/21, 19/22, 32/35, two units on the triplet ("street") 0-2-3 and two units on the carre 25-29.

2. Tier (series 5/8)
Six bet units cover the numbers 27, 13, 36, 11, 30, 8, 23, 10, 5, 24, 16, 33. One unit on the following splits: 5/8, 10/11, 13/16, 23/24, 27/30, 33/36.
The true profit on this bet is: 17 + 1 - 6 = 12 units. So the efficiency is 12:6 or 2:1. the same as for the dozen or column bet.
3. Orphans (orphelins)
The player bets on numbers 17, 34, 6, 1, 20, 14, 31, 9.
He gives dealer five units (or multiple of five), which are placed as follows: One straight ("plein") on the number 1 and one split ("cheval") unit on every one of the numbers 6/9, 14/17, 17/ 20, 31/34. Note than number 17 participate in two splits (14/17 and 17/20), so:

4. Other standard bets
Bet on a number and its neighbors
This bet covers a number on the wheel and the two numbers either side of the number.
This bet is played with five bet units (or multiple of five). For example, "8 and the neighbors" (or "8 and the two") means that the player places a bet on five consecutive numbers 11-30-8-23-10 (8 is in the middle). The true payout is 35 + 1 - 5 = 31 units.
